Makeup Revolution Strobe Lighting Palette Review

Makeup Revolution Strobe Lighting Palette Review

The one thing that you cannot have enough of in this sunny weather is a good highlighter. I try to use highlighters as much as I can because I love the extra pop that it gives to my makeup. Since you all enjoyed my last makeup review, I decided that I’ll keep at it and today I’m reviewing the Makeup Revolution Strobe Lighting Palette.

About Makeup Revolution

Makeup Revolution is a budget UK makeup brand, owned by TAM Beauty, that offers a wide variety of makeup and brushes. The brand launched in 2014, offering affordable high quality makeup and dupes of expensive high-end makeup – to top it off the entire range is 100% cruelty-free and some of their products are actually vegan.

Makeup Revolution Strobe Lighting Palette 🎨

This palette contains 3 strobe highlighters in a rose gold lidded case and a large mirror. As well as being cruelty-free, this particular palette is also both vegan and gluten-free – but unfortunately it does contain parabens. The Strobe Lighting Palette is £8 for three strobe highlighter shades, I actually got for free at Superdrug with the ‘Free Strobe Lightening Palette when you spend £12 on selected Revolution’ deal.

Review

Before I say anything else, I have to appreciate this gorgeous packaging – I absolutely love the shiny rose gold cover (just a tad obsessed). On first look, the shine of the white and green luminescent shade stands out the most to me. The highlighters have a silky feel to it and easily blend in to the skin.

The gold is more on the chalky side, but having said that it does make for a natural looking glow and is easy to build over. Generally, I felt that both the creamy gold and peach shades appear to be quite powdery on my skin and kind of blend in to my skin tone. I found that using a good setting spray brings out the look of the highlighters even more giving it an added pop to my makeup and helps the highlighter last longer than it usually does.

So far, out of all three shades, I’m loving the white luminescent shade with the green shimmer; I don’t normally get to wear colours like that but it’s fun to wear on a night out. ✨

I hope you all enjoyed my review of the Makeup Revolution Strobe Lighting Palette, and get a chance to use the deal a Superdrug too. Click here to buy the palette from Superdrug.

Femna Relax Tea Review

Hey guys, how are you all doing?

Did you know that over the past year, 74% of people have at some point felt so stressed that they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope (Mental Health Foundation). Lately, I’ve fallen into the habit of completely stressing out, panicking and feeling burnt out in the past 4-5 months and while I’ve bounced back, all of that stress has been its toll on my physical health. Strangely enough, this week is Mental Health Awareness Week and the main topic that they discuss is stress.

I get irregular periods due to stress and at times I get bloated and sensitive to many foods that it’s not only effected my confidence but my routine too. Generally, I drink green tea to help with the bloating but I felt that it wasn’t working as well as it normally would due to the problems that I face with my periods. I’ve spent more time working on self-care, i.e making sure that I’m spending more time focussing on my health and making time to relax. During this time, I got an email about this wonderful brand that makes teas specifically for womens health, so of course I had to try this out and write a review for you all.

A little about Femna…

Femna was founded by Maxie and Emily, two young and committed social entrepreneurs based in Berlin, Germany that share a passion for women’s well-being. They believe that ailments like menstrual cramps, PMS, cycle fluctuations and menopause discomfort need not be tackled with popping pills all the time. The range of natural alternatives is huge and effective, giving women the opportunity to feel good, naturally.

Femna offer the best natural products possible to make women’s lives easier by helping women maintain a healthy lifestyle, and education around various stages of life.

Femna Relax Tea ☕✨

Lavender can help you unwind so the world won’t look so overwhelming. Nature’s passion flower is made of perfect concentric circles which radiate calmness and peace. Lemon balm and tansy help you to let go of unwanted stress and Chamomile comforts your organs from all the negative energy that might surround you.

The Relax Tea is priced at 11.90 for 50g, which roughly makes 25-30 cups of tea. This tea is not recommended for women during pregnacy and lactation.

How to make

Drink as a regime for a few weeks with 2-3 cups a day and use 2 teaspoon per 200ml boiling water, cover (so you don’t lose the essential oils) leave to brew for 8-12 minutes.

Review

Let me get straight to the point – it was love at first sip! The aroma of the tea itself is soothing, you can smell the blend of the lavender and passion flower. As the relax tea is a loose tea, the smells and taste are more prominent than your normal cuppa.

I’ve never drank anything with passion flower or rose before and I am not complaining, it really adds a gentle touch to the tea. You can taste the chamomile in there, but personally I think that I could feel the calming effects of the chamomile more than you can taste it.

So far so good, I generally feel less bloated in the past few week that I’ve tried the tea and overall my body feels relaxed. As a result of my body feeling more relaxed, I don’t panic as much as I have done in the past, I definitely feel that this tea has been working on helping me to relax. This feels like a natural, more cleaner way of dealing with everything without worrying about any extreme negative side effects. Of course not every girl and woman experiences the same symptoms or problems which is why Femna have a whole range of teas designed to suit you at whatever stage you’re at in life.

Femna itself is amazing, I’m always for supporting a brand that helps women talk openly about their health without feeling any kind of stigma which is why I’ve tried my best to be as open about my personal health with you all. Thank you to the lovely ladies at Femna for sending me this brilliant tea.

A’kin The Big Deal Kit Review

I hope you all are having a great start to the week, today I finally get to share news about another amazing deal from A’kin & QVC. Those of you that follow my blog have already seen my review on an A’kin product a little while back  and I was pretty impressed by the amazing quality of their product. Today’s deal is not just about one product but as you can tell from the title of this post, it’s about four products namely the A’kin The Big Deal Kit!

A little about A’kin

A’kin was launched in Australia in 2002 using pioneering technologies and leading the way in natural skincare. The philosophy at A’kin is all about creating pure, authentic and beautifully aromatic skincare, crafted without parabens, sulfates, artificial colours or fragrances. This high quality, natural skincare brand is cruelty-free, organic and 100% vegan!

A’kin The Big Deal Kit 🎁

The Big Deal Kit includes 1 Cleansing Micellar Water (150ml), 1 Hydrating Antioxidant Day Cream (50ml), 1 Mini Hydrating Mist Toner (30ml) and 1 Certified Organic Rosehip Oil (20ml). The A’Kin 4 Piece Skincare Hydration Collection aka The Big Deal Kit is normally worth £55.50 if you buy directly from the A’kin website, and for this week only it’s  available to buy from QVC for £29.98.

Review

A’kin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

This lightweight but nourishing oil has quickly become one of my personal favourites; the rosehip oil is formulated to help soothe and hydrate your complexion, as well as other areas of dry skin on your body. It’s perfect to use over scars, stretch marks and just over dry skin in general. On days that my skin needs less moisturising, I’ve used this before applying my makeup and it’s kept my makeup looking fresh the whole day.

I’ve already reviewed this before you can click here to read the full review on the A’kin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil.

A’kin Hydrating Antioxidant Day Cream

This daily facial moisturiser has a fast-absorbing formula enriched with organic coconut water and green tea, that works to deeply hydrate your skin.

The day cream is refreshing, calming and has a light, buttery texture and that nourishes my skin throughout the day. The smell of the green tea is quite refreshing, and when I apply the cream to my skin, I can definitely feel the calming coconut ingredients which works well for the skin as the weather starts to get warmer outside. I do wish that there was a night cream to the kit.

A’kin Hydrating Mist Toner

The mini mist spray is from the same range as the day cream, infused with organic coconut water and green tea, helps to balance the pH levels skin and soothe your skin.

I’ve been using this over my makeup before I go out to work and days out in general and I love the freshness of the spray. It keeps my makeup pretty much intact throughout the day, which is perfect if you don’t have the time to touch up or check your makeup. Word of advice to you all – don’t make the mistake of using this a little while after using mascara, I learnt that lesson the hard way (lol), in all honesty that was my fault for not waiting for my mascara to dry. This travel size toner spray is perfect to take with you on the go!

A’kin Cleansing Micellar Water

The cleansing micellar water is infused with organic coconut water, green tea, cucumber and lavender, there has never been an easier way to cleanse than with this micellar water, which works to instantly remove impurities and make-up from your face without the need to rinse it off.

Since I received this, I had been using the toner as a makeup remover everyday and despite the green tea in the water, it was so gentle and easily removed my makeup. The water left my skin feeling hydrated, refreshed and glowing after using it.

Personally, I think that this kit is a great way to try the different products from A’kin, especially if you’ve never used the brand before, it’s definitely worth the price. I’d like to thank the lovely people at RebKan PR and A’kin for sending me this wonderful kit!

Click here to buy the A’kin The Big Deal Kit from QVC – remember this offer is running for one week only, so make sure you get your hands on it before it all goes! ☺

I hope you all enjoyed my A’kin The Big Deal Kit review of this product and your bank holiday weekend!

Milani Baked Blush Corallina Review

Most of you may have already heard of this brand and may even use it. This is actually my first time using any Milani product, so naturally I thought that I should blog about it.

Are Milani Cosmetics cruelty free?

Milani Cosmetics was founded in 2002, taking inspiration from Milani. Milani’s lightbulb moment was sparked by the Italian world for colour, ‘colori’ – almost identical to colour, however with something a little extra; a little more.

Milani is designed for women who love to wear color, the products allow women to explore and push their boundaries – and yes they’re cruelty-free! 🐇

Milani Baked Blush – Corallina

This silky blush with benefits can be used so many ways; it shapes, it contours, it highlights. Sun-baked on Italian terracotta tiles, it’s buildable from sheer to vibrant. Yes, it adds a cheeky pop of colour to your complexion. Radiance and warmth, too. I bought the Baked Blush in the shade 08 Corallina for £9.95 at Beauty Base.

Review

Like the description says, the blush powder is definitely silky and I absolutely loved the warmth of the Corallina shade. Even though it is a baked blush, I wasn’t expecting the sheer amount of shimmer in the product, it really adds that extra glow to the skin.

As you can see from the swatch on my arm, it’s a super pigmented powder, unfortunately it doesn’t really have a scent. The colour is absolutely gorgeous. The blush lasted the entire time that I’ve worn it – during the day, right through to the evenings; so I’m pretty impressed with the baked blush.

When I bought the blush I was a little disappointed because the packaging is a little deceiving as there’s a mirror and blush applicator brush at the bottom of the blush, which I didn’t really notice at first. The bristles of the little brush are a tad harder than I’m used to – in all honesty, I would have preferred to use my own brush. Although, it is a great travel size product to keep with you, and the brush is pretty easy and convenient to use when you’re on the go.

Given the price of the product, I’d say that I was very impressed with the quality of the baked blush, this was my first time using any product from Milani and I’d definitely use it again.

Personally, I feel like I don’t review makeup enough, so I would love to your thoughts on the this review.

I hope you all enjoyed my review, don’t forget to comment, share and follow.

Hempz Original Body Wash Review

Hi guys! How are you? ☺

I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful sunny weather, I can’t get enough of it! In the past couple of weeks, I’ve had to deal with so much that I ended up neglecting the blog a little, thankfully I’m back on track with some more reviews and offers coming up soon! This review is a little overdue, but I’m sure you guys will understand.  ♥

A little about Hempz…

Hempz Original Invigorating Body Wash 🌿

As you can see from the name, the Hempz Original Invigorating Body Wash is part of the Original Hempz range that is made with 100% Organic Hemp Seed Oil providing the skin with a perfect ration of protein, carbohydrates, nutrients, key minerals and fiber. The moisteriser is rich in natural anti-oxidants, anti-ageing properties and anti-inflammatories from extracts of Lemon, Ginger root, Ginseng and Grapefruit.

The moisteriser is available to buy online on the Hempz Beauty site £16.99 for 250 ml; the bottle shown in the picture is of the sample that I received from Alex Silver PR.

Review

When I started using the body wash, I noticed that it smells almost the same as the Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturiser, as of course, they’re from the same range. The smell was quite sweet and soothing at the same time, especially when the body wash began to lather. After rinsing off the lather and getting out of the shower, my skin felt refreshed and nourished. As with the moisteriser, the banana scent really adds to the refreshing feel of the body wash – which is perfect to use in the heat.

Once again, I’d like to thank the lovely people at Alex Silver PR for sending me this product to review, you can click here to buy the Hempz Original Invigorating Body Wash.

The problem with positivity

Happy Sunday everyone! ☺

I hope you all have had a wonderful week. In the past few months, I’ve seen a lot of bloggers I follow open up and discuss how they’re feeling which inspired this post. I’m sure many of you can relate to this post.

The problem with positivity

For a while, I’ve felt that the positivity I try to put out there on social media, this blog and generally in life was not balanced. Many of us post messages of positivity to motivate one another on social media but are not able to fully embrace it in reality. I for one have been guilty of this. But this issue with positivity, namely only putting out positive content, is equally as damaging as being completely negative. For me, an overload of positivity creates an imbalance resulting in not being able to fully cope and deal with the negativity in my life.

Neglecting the negativity made me become more sensitive to it and I found myself constantly living up to high standards. Which, frankly, can be exhausting at times.  Don’t get me wrong, I still believe that it’s extremely important to improve yourself and strive to be a better person, but it’s equally important to not be harsh on yourself.

How I’ve tried to overcome it

Part of becoming an adult is learning how to take what life throws at you and how to handle that with grace. Whether that be addressing problems with your personal life, work, education, relationships and so on. Addressing the negativity in my life and trying to tackle it has worked much better for me than merely consuming positive content. Deconstructing the underlying issues that I have from the way I handle situations, toxic people and so on has given me a newfound perspective on life. It’s given me the chance to grow. As I’ve gotten older, I find that balancing the positives and negatives in life, and paying equal attention to both has been best for growth. Examining my life more closely has made all the difference.

I would love to know what your thoughts are on this, and if any of you have felt this way.

I hope you enjoyed my post.  Don’t forget to comment, share and follow.

PS: If you haven’t already, check out my latest review on the Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisteriser.

Hempz Original Body Moisturiser Review

Did you know that April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month? To kick-start the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month I decided to do a review on this wonderful cruelty-free and vegan product.

Are Hempz cruelty free?

Hempz Beauty is a division of the JK Health and Beauty Technologies Group PLC. Hempz Beauty are a natural beauty company that make products with 100% organic Hemp Seed Oil. All products are Paraben Free, Gluten Free, THC Drug Free and are not tested on animals.

The moisteriser is available to buy online at Amazon for £19.99 for 500 ml; the bottle shown in the picture is of the sample that I received from Alex Silver PR.

Review

At first, I could smell the sweet banana blend in the moisturiser, I couldn’t really smell the natural hemp oil, but can definitely feel the nourishing effects of it skin. The moisturiser is lightweight and easy to blend in to my skin, it generally keeps my hands, body and legs smooth and soft. I’ve also been using this as a face cream and I am loving how smooth, yet kind of firm, my skin is after using the cream. One thing that I do appreciate about this moisturiser is that it keeps my skin soft and firm throughout the day without needing to reapply it.

Thank you to Alex Silver PR for sending me this lovely product to review, you can click here to buy the Hempz Original Herbal Body Moisturiser from Amazon.

I’ve got another Hempz product review coming out next week, so make sure you’re following my blog to keep up.

Things Everyone Should Know About Mental Health & Wellbeing at Work

Happy Monday everyone! ☺

I hope you all are well. Now I know the last thing that you want to think about is work when you finish the day, but I think it’s important to acknowledge and understand these important pointers about your mental wellbeing in the workplace.

So here are ‘Things Everyone Should Know About Mental Health & Wellbeing at Work’.

Things Everyone Should Know About Mental Health & Wellbeing at Work

Your place of work shouldn’t be a place you dread going to, and if you do, it’s probably a sign that your mental health and wellbeing is being worn down gradually by what you experience there. That doesn’t have to be the case though. These days, issues relating to mental health are becoming highlighted more than ever, meaning many employers are now taking these issues seriously.

There are lots of things you can do to make sure that you care for your mental health at work, but it might mean making some changes to your general working habits and routines. But in the end, this will be more than worthwhile because you’ll be happier and more contented at work. Read on to learn more about this important issue; everyone should know about all of these things.

Remember That Your Employer Has a Duty of Care

Every business that employs people has a duty of care to those people. That means that if you feel like your business is mistreating you or not fulfilling their duty of care in some way, you should take action. That could even mean taking legal action if the problems you’re experiencing are really bad. There’s no need to simply accept poor practices by your employer.

Don’t be Afraid to Talk to Your Boss About Stress

Stress is the major mental health problems that people experience at work, and it’s not hard to see why. When you have a huge pile of work on your desk to get through the end of the day, it piles on the pressure and puts you through the ringer. You don’t want to be stressed every day because that leads to other mental health problems such as anxiety. Don’t hesitate to talk to your boss about the stress you’re experience because they might be able to cut your workload for you.

Pursue Training Opportunities and Watch Your Confidence Rise

One great way to make you feel better about your work is to make the most of the training and learning opportunities that come your way. When you make the most of such changes, you will improve your career, improve your skills and make yourself more employable going forward. It could eventually help you to clinch a promotion later in your career, and your confidence will grow continually. That will help your mental health because your attitude to your work will be more positive.

Don’t Accept Illegal Bullying Practices

If you feel like you’re the victim of bullying in the workplace, you shouldn’t feel like this is something that just has to be accepted. On the contrary, you are entitled to have those responsible disciplined and potentially fired because workplace bullying is against the law. Take action and report your problem at the first opportunity, and do it again each time something happens.

Learn How to Take Constructive Criticism the Right Way

One thing that can really damage your mental health is criticism if you take it in the wrong way. Of course, it’s the job of your superiors to make sure that the criticism they offer is always constructive and helpful. But some people can even take constructive criticism in the wrong kind of way. Be sure to always look for the positives in the negatives and use it as a motivator to get better and achieve more going forward. That way, you’ll take the criticism the right way.

Understand What HR Can Do For You

The human resources department of the company you work for is there for a reason. Its job is to make the relationships between the company and the people who work for it as smooth and positive as possible. It’s up to you to go to them and ask them what they do for you though because they probably won’t come to you and offer up their services. But there are lots of things that they can help you with, so it’s worth exploring what’s on offer.

When You Have the Chance to Get Involved in Decision-Making, Go For It

This is one positive way in which you can improve your own confidence and self-esteem. Employees always feel more valued and respected when they’re made part of the decision-making process. So, whenever the chance for you to do this comes alone, don’t be afraid to jump in and make the most of it. You will quickly find that you feel more invested in your work and what you do each day when you’re involved in calling the shots.

If Your Company Has an EAP, Make Use of It

These days, many companies have EAPs in place. That stands for Employee Assistance Programmes. They are focused on helping you out when you have specific needs that can’t be taken care of inside the business. An external company will usually provide the EAP services to the company, and then people like you can take advantage of those services. It’s a nice way in which the company can be there for you when you need help and assistance with specific issues.

Take Time Off When You Need It

If there are occasions when you need some time off, don’t be afraid to take that time off. If stress or depression or any other mental health issue is getting you down and making it impossible for you to do your job, take the time off. You should be entitled to sick pay, so you don’t need to lose out as much as you might think. There’s no sense pushing through and doing work when you’re not in the right or healthy frame of mind for it.

There are few things more important than your mental health, so don’t take shortcuts when it comes to how you care for yours at work. If you allow yourself to ignore this issue, you will damage your mental health and make yourself unhappy. There’s no need for that because people are becoming more aware of mental health issues at work each day.

I hope you all enjoyed this contribed post on ‘Things Everyone Should Know About Mental Health & Wellbeing at Work’ ☺

I have another post coming out tomorrow, so be sure to check it out guys! ♥

10 inspirational podcasts for women

Happy International Women’s Day to all my ladies out there ♥

I hope you all are having a fabulous day just being you and forever slaying. Last week, I wrote a post about my current favourite podcasts, and I got a great response. Since then, I have been binge-listening to some more podcasts that I wanted to share with you all. Side note – I think binge-listening is going to be the new binge-watching for me this year.

So for International Womens Day, I thought it would be great to share some more podcasts with you all specifically to keep all you ladies inspired, motivated and entertained. There’s a variety of podcasts here to inspire you in every way possible!

10 Inspirational podcasts for women

1 | She Means Business Podcast with Carrie Green – Carrie Greens’ podcast, based on her book of the same name, brings out your entrepreneurial side. This podcast features female guests that share their success stories and experiences with their ventures, providing further insight and advice to help you get going on whatever business you want. The episodes can be between 20 minutes – 50 minutes.

2 | The Receipts Podcast –  These London based ladies are hilarious, fun, and unapologetically honest (I love it!). From discussing everyday topics that all women can relate to and just having a good honest chat about current issues.  Their episodes are normally between 1 hour – 2 hours.

3 | SherniCast – (I’ve mentioned this in an earlier post.) SherniCast is a podcast run by Canadian based vlogger and actress Navpreet Banga. Navpreet’s podcasts focus on spirituality, mental wellbeing and motivation and she sometimes speaks in both English and Punjabi. Whenever she does post a new episode on her podcast, I always try to take the time out to listen because I find her talks on motivation to be so genuine and uplifting. Each episode can be between 8 minutes – 20 mintutes.

4 | 2 Dope Queens –  I’ve only recently discovered this podcast run by American based Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams. These two comedians and best friends discuss anything and everything from stories about sex, romance, race, hair journeys, living in New York, and so on. Their honesty is so refreshing, I’m sure you’ll love it too. The episodes can be anything between 10 minutes – 1 hour 20 minutes.

5 | Goal Digger – This podcast is run by Jenna Kutcher, a Wisconsin based photographer, podcaster, and educator with big dreams. Jenna’s podcast covers business, travel, personal lifestyle, from social media marketing strategies, to opening up about her fears, Jenna’s podcast is so refreshingly raw. Each episode can be between 8 minutes – 50 minutes

6 | Radio Cherry Bombe – This podcast is completely different compared to most that I know of; it features interviews of various women in the food industry, like food stylists, about their careers. What I find interesting is that the podcasts features women working behind the scenes of the food industry, that unfortunately don’t always get the credit that they deserve. The episodes are usually between 30 minutes – 1 hour.

7 | Girlboss Radio – Again I’ve also mentioned this in my current favourite list, but it’s worth mentioning here too since everything in this podcast is relevant for women. The Girlboss Radio, run by the Girlboss Sophia Amoruso, covers a wide range of topics that all women can relate to as well as topics that we could always learn more about; finance, wellbeing, beauty, work and so on. The episodes can be anything between 25 minutes – 1 hour.

8 | On Being with Krista Trippett – This is a philosophical podcast that I recently discovered run by Krista Tippett. Although this podcast is not exclusively a podcast for women, I still think that it’s important to get into the philosophical and introspective mood, learn about unique people with their own philosophy on different aspects of our life. Each episode runs for roughly 1 hour – 1 hour 30 minutes.

9 | Cha Da Cup with KayRay – Again, I have mentioned this in one of my other posts. KayRay is a Canadian based actress, model, vlogger that hosts her own show and podcast called Cha Da Cup with KayRay (Cup of Tea with KayRay). I’ve been following KayRay for a while now and I can’t get enough of her sassy interviews, she mainly covers topics on issues in South Asian cultures, interviews key figures of South Asian descent, but also keeps her podcasts and interviews very lighthearted. The interviews are normally between 40 minutes – 45 minutes.

10 | Fat Mascara – This one is for all of my makeup lovers out there, I actually discovered this the other day as I did a quick google search to see if there are any makeup podcasts and voilà. Beauty editors, Jess & Jenn share the industry’s latest news and their inside access along with candid stories of their beauty adventures, from celebrity interviews and freaky new facials to miracle products and epic beauty fails. Each week, they also get advice from their favorite people in the beauty business, including influencers, makeup artists, hair stylists, and more. The episodes can be anything between 30 minutes – 1 hour 30 minutes.

In case you still have yet to buy some flowers for Mother’s Day, I would recommend you buy some stunning bouquets from Floom, they offer same day delivery in London! ☺

Don’t forget to comment, share and follow.
