My current favourite podcasts

Happy Tuesday everyone, how has your week been going so far? ☺

It’s been such a little while since I’ve done a post on things that inspire me. From time to time, I love listening to podcasts while working as I find that it really helps me stay motivated, inspires creativity and generally keeps me from procrastinating. There I some that I have been listening to for years and a few that I have been listening to in the past year or so. I hope you all enjoy this list of my current favourite podcasts.

My current favourite podcasts 📻 🎧

1 | Partially Examined Life – The Partially Examined Life is a U.S based podcast and blog  is run by Mark Linsenmayer, Seth Paskin, Wes Alwan and Dylan Casey. As a Philosophy student, I would listen to the Partially Examined Life podcast for inspiration on my work and generally for better insight into my course; even after graduating, I still listen to the thought provoking and witty podcasts. It’s a great podcast for those of you that have a keen interest in Philosophy, and are just generally curious to learn more without having to do all the reading.

2 | Cha Da Cup with KayRay –  KayRay is a Canadian based actress, model, vlogger that hosts her own show and podcast called Cha Da Cup with KayRay (Cup of Tea with KayRay). I’ve been following KayRay for a while now and I can’t get enough of her sassy interviews, she mainly covers topics on issues in South Asian cultures, interviews key figures of South Asian descent, but also keeps her podcasts and interviews very lighthearted.

3 | SherniCast – SherniCast is a podcast run by Canadian based vlogger and actress Navpreet Banga. Navpreet is more well known for her videos on fitness and comedy sketches on YouTube, but she occasionally posts episodes for her podcast, one thing that I love about her podcasts are that they focus on spirituality, mental wellbeing and motivation and she sometimes records episodes in both English and Punjabi. Whenever she does post a new episode on her podcast, I always try to take the time out to listen because I find her talks on motivation to be so genuine and heartfelt.

4 | Girlboss Radio – And of course, my ultimate favourite is the Girlboss Radio, run by the Girlboss Sophia Amoruso. This podcast, much like the newsletter, covers a wide range of topics that all women can relate to as well as topics that we could always learn more about; finance, wellbeing, beauty, work and so on. There are many different guests that are part of the podcasts and there is honestly so much to learn from them all.

I hope you guys enjoyed my little list of my current favourite podcasts, I’d love to know what kind of podcasts you all listen to. Don’t forget to comment below to let me know what your thoughts are! ☺

A’kin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil Review

Since it’s still February, I wanted to contine with the floral theme that I have going at the moment. So today, I wanted to share with you all my first review on an organic, vegan and cruelty-free product from Australia, the A’kin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil.

Are A’kin cruelty free?

A’kin was launched in Australia in 2002 using pioneering technologies and leading the way in natural skincare. The philosophy at A’kin is all about creating pure, authentic and beautifully aromatic skincare, crafted without parabens,
sulfates, artificial colours or fragrances. This high quality, natural skincare brand is cruelty-free, vegan and completely organic!

A’kin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

The A’kin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is 100% natural with a minimum concentration of 80% essential fatty acids (Omega 3,6,9) for optimal skin health. This antioxidant and vitamin rich oil helps to protect the skin from the effect of environmental elements, prevent signs of ageing and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It’s perfect for use on scars, strech marks, uneven skin tone and nourishing dry lips. It is recommended to apply 3-4 drops of the oil after cleansing by gently massaging it into the face, neck and decolletage prior to moisturiser, and to use it twice daily.

Normally this product is priced at £40.00 for 45ml, fortunately it’s currently available to buy at QVC for £25.68.

Review

As with most organic oils, the smell is a tad strong, but once you massage the oil into your skin the smell fades. When I first applied the oil to my face, I found the texture to be quite lightweight compared to most oils that I have used in the past. The rosehip oil easily blended into my skin, giving it a natural and healthly looking shine without appearing oily on my skin. Generally, I found that my skin absorbs the oil quite quickly when my skin is slightly warm from having a shower or washing my face with warm water.

I’ve been using the rosehip oil overnight and it keeps my skin, my face and parts of my body, hydrated throughout the night. As I mentioned before, you can use the rosehip oil to reduce the appearance of scars, and I must admit that I am quite impressed with the way that the scars on my face and body have begun to fade since using the oil.

In fact, in the past few days I decided to wear the oil under my makeup, as it’s kind a new trend that I’ve seen online and wanted to experiment with this oil. When applying makeup over the oil, my skin has had such a natural glow to it throughout the day and it stayed hydrated despite it the freezing temperatures outside – I absolutely love it! 💆🏽🌹✨

I’d like to thank the lovely people at RebKan PR and A’kin for sending me this amazing product! Click here to buy the A’kin Rosehip Oil from QVC, and to check out the rest of the A’kin collection at QVC.

I hope you all enjoyed my review of this product, do comment and let me know what you think. ☺

Plum Goodness Grape Seed Cream Reviews

Last week, I realised that I still had a few more products from Plum left to review so I decided to do a quick poll on whether you guys wanted to see more reviews from this brand or not. Thankfully, you all weren’t fed up of seeing me talk about this brand.

This post is a review is on the Light Stay Day Cream and the Night Cream from the Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn range.

A little about Plum Goodness…

Plum Goodness is an online-cosmetic brand, based in India, that was founded by Shankar Prasad in July 2014. The brand is one of the first 100% vegan brands in India that are completely committed to ensuring that their products are ‘safe and good’ – not only are the products cruelty-free but they are also free of parabens, phthalates and SLS.

One of my favourite things that I like about the Plum Goodness brand is that they do not promote any skin whitening products, something that is unfortunately rife in India’s cosmetic industry, and they also keep all aspects of their line as ‘good’ as possible. The products all feature the ‘1% For The Planet’ logo, meaning that Plum Goodness give 1% of their sales to non-profit organizations that are dedicated to protecting the environment.

The Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream ☀

The Plum Goodness Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Light Stay Day Cream is a combination of sun protection, everyday hydration and nourishment, with long-lasting SPF30 protection, healing sea buckthorn oil and nourishing grape seed oil. The non-greasy formula absorbs very well, while the natural anti-oxidants of both the sea buckthorn oil and grape seed oil helps to prevent sun damage to skin. On the Plum Goodness website, the light stay cream is recommended for those with normal, dry and combination skin types, and it is recommended that you apply the cream on the neck and face every morning.

The day cream is priced at Rs. 475.00 (Indian rupees) for 60ml, which is approximately £5.00 – please do bear in mind that the exchange rate can fluctuate, and the price could be a little higher for someone purchasing from outside of India. I bought the cream on sale as part of the Berry Bundle, at the time it was worth Rs. 1050 and I was charged £11.92 for it but normally the bundle is worth Rs. 1,440.

Review

The day cream smells exactly like the face mask and foam scrub from the grape seed and sea buckthorn, I can still mainly smell the grape seed oil in the cream. I found the texture of the cream to be very light and smooth, once I blend it into my skin the cream moisturizes the skin without being too oily, I’ve actually been using this cream before applying makeup and it works well at smoothing out my skin. There have actually been times where I go out without any foundation or primer on because the cream works just that well for my skin, bear in mind that I use the Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Foam Scrub before applying the cream.

The Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Nurturance Night Cream 🌙

The Plum Goodness Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn Nurturance Night Cream provides hydration and nourishment to your skin overnight, ensuring that your skin has the optimum level of moisture content, gets its supply of essential nutrients, and allows skin repair to take place. The night cream prevents dryness, while the grape seed and sea buckthorn oils nourish, heal and repair skin. The vitamins A,C,E & minerals from grape seed oil supply essential nutrition to your skin while the polyphenols, beta carotenes and essential fatty acids from sea buckthorn oil for skin repair.

The night cream is priced at Rs. 550.00 (Indian rupees) for 50ml, which is approximately £6.00 – and like I mentioned before, I bought the cream on sale as part of the Berry Bundle, which at the time it was worth Rs. 1050 and I was charged £11.92 for it but normally the bundle is worth Rs. 1,440.

Review

When using the night cream, I could mainly smell the grape seed oil in there and of course as it’s a night cream the texture is thicker and richer than the day cream. I normally use this on a daily basis, after I have used the foam scrub from the same collection, and I must admit that I am very impressed with the quality of this particular cream. The night cream works well at hydrating my skin throughout the night and makes my skin feel soft right until the next day. What I also love about the night cream is that I don’t have to use much of the cream for it to work, sometimes I apply the minimum amount possible and it is nourishes my skin. I’ve been using both the creams with the foam scrub from the same range as part of my daily skincare routine and my natural skin as never looked so good. 👌🏽💆🏽‍✨

If you are from India, then you can order directly from the Plum Goodness website. If you live outside of India, then you can order the products by emailing hello@plumgoodness.com

I hope you all enjoyed my Plum Goodness Grape Seed Cream Reviews.

Lush Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb Review

Lush Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb Review

It’s been freezing this week and honestly a hot tub bath was exactly what I needed, and definitely something I’d recommend for all of you too! In case you haven’t had a chance to read my latest posts, or you’re a new reader, I decided to do a series on some of Lush’s Valentines bath bomb range, as requested by some of my lovely readers. So today, the last review of my mini Lush Valentines Bath series will be on the Lush Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb.

Who are Lush?

Lush are an all-round ethical cosmetics company that are committed to being cruelty-free, vegan and sustainable as possible. Their products are all handmade, smell amazing, and have a cool sticker at the bottom of their boxed products to tell you who and when the products were made. With over 100 stores across the U.K, Lush is easily one of the most prominent organic beauty brands.

Rose Bombshell Bath Bomb 🌹

The rose bombshell bath bomb is quite literally a bombshell of roses, with yellow rose petals, rose absolute and rose oil. Once it fizzes, the powdery outer shell breaks away releasing yellow petals with Sicilian lemon and floral geranium oils. I bought the bath bomb from the Lush Oxford Street store for £4.50 (each).

Review

When I first saw this bath bomb, it instantly reminded me of the Twilight Bath Bomb, just to clarify, it’s nothing like it. The Rose Bombshell bath bomb smells quite powdery on the outside, and as you can see from the pictures it is a pastel pink, almost purple colour with little bits of blue here and there. At first, you can’t really smell the roses so much.

When I put the bath bomb in the tub, it began breaking down immediately, at first the water started changing into a very light pink colour with powder floating around. Then as the layers began to fizz out, the water turned into a pretty bright pink colour revealing the yellow rose petals, at this point the fresh floral scents were in the air!

Once I got in the tub, I could smell the subtle citrus scent of the Sicilian lemon oil and the oils were slowly working to soften my skin and relax my body. Generally, the bath bomb seems like a less subtle version of the Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb. I was a little disappointed because it didn’t photograph very well, because honestly the image doesn’t do justice to the lovely colour! After getting out of the tub, I felt quite refreshed and I ended up smelling like roses for the rest of the day (lol), I was inside the bath tub for almost 40 minutes and I will definitely recommend this to anyone that loves roses as much as I do! 🌹🛀🏽

I hope you all enjoyed my review on this! Don’t forget to comment, share and subscribe ☺

Lush Heart of Enlightened Expectation Bubble Bar Melt

Hey everyone, ☺

I hope your weekend is going well so far!

This post was supposed to be published during the week, but I’ve honestly been feeling so burnt out so it’s a little later than it was supposed to be. If you don’t already know, I decided to do a series on some of Lush’s Valentines bath bomb range, as requested by some of my lovely readers. So today, the third of my mini Lush Valentines Bath series will be on my new favourite product from Lush, with an incredibly long name – the Lush Heart of Enlightened Expectation Bubble Bar Melt. (I initially bought this bubble bar thinking it was a bath bomb, but I still decided to add this review to this series because I loved this bubble bar so much.)

Heart of Enlightened Expectation Bubble Bar Melt 🧡

This bubble bar is made with ylang ylang and bergamot oils to brighten moods, Fair Trade organic cocoa butter that softens skin in the bubble bath. The geranium, jasmine and rose oils add to the floral fantasy in the bath that soothes and calms allowing you to step out with confidence. I bought the bar from the Lush Oxford Street store for £4.50 (each).

Review

The top of the bubble bar is quite creamy and buttery. The bottom kept crumbling very quickly and it made my skin feel so soft, the feel of it was very gentle. When I put the bubble bar under running water, I was so surprised at how quickly it crumbled and melted under the running water, I could immediately smell the cocoa butter in there – it was luscious, the water had turned into a bright orange colour with beautiful bubbles covering the surface of the tub.

I felt like a little kid when I was getting in the tub, because there were just so many bubbles! The oils in the water instantly worked on my skin, making it feel so soft and smooth. The smell was amazing, so relaxing, I could mainly smell the cocoa butter and a hint of the ylang ylang oil, I stayed in the tub until all the bubbles had popped – so about 45 minutes to an hour. After getting out of the tub and drying down my skin felt so tender, and generally felt moisterised, this is perfect for anyone who’s skin might need a little extra moisture.

Personally, the Heart of Enlightened Expectation Bubble Bar Melt, is first of all such a long name; I think the bubble bar should be called the cocoa love bubble bar, but that’s just me (🤷🏽), but on a serious note, I think I’ve found my new favourite product from Lush. 😍🧡🛀🏽

Have any of you tried this bubble bar yet? What were your thoughts on it? I hope you all enjoyed my review on this! Don’t forget to comment, share and subscribe ☺

CGD London – Getting Things Done Kit Review

Hi everyone,

How is your week going so far? ☺

Now that we’re coming to the end of January, or what feels like the longest month ever, it can get difficult to keep working towards your goals and stay on track. Truthfully, I am one of those people, I haven’t been sticking to all of my little goals but I’ve been trying to be as productive as possible. Which is why I wanted to share this post about a planner set that I’ve been using for almost a week, because I can’t be the only person feeling this way (I hope lol) and to show you a productivity kit aimed at women.

Who are CGD London?

“We’re women just like you, thinking outside the box on ways to work smarter, not harder.” – CGD London, About page

CGD London was founded in 2017, and is an off-shoot of careergirldaily.com, an award-winning career website  providing support and advice by like-minded career girls specifically for women –  I actually blogged about Career Girl Daily earlier this month; 5 Motivational Newsletters for Women. CGD London believe that the key to a successful life is in a great plan, and help get it done by designing and building products to help you do just that.

The Getting Things Done Kit:

The Getting Things Done Kit is a limited edition kit designed to help you get things done – it’s pretty much in the name. There’s plenty of room to write, set daily goals and keep you on schedule making sure that you’re as organized and productive as possible. Inside the kit, are a Getting Things Done Planner, The Ultimate Week Plan, a Getting Things Done rose gold engraved pen and a sticker sheet. It’s usually priced at £70, but the kit is currently on sale for £35.99.

Review:

1. Getting Things Done Planner

The Getting Things Done planner is an A5 planner made of vegan-friendly leather and there is plenty of space to fill out as much as you need to within the daily pages. One thing that I must admit that I do love is the daily reminder for self-care, exercise, drinking water and space to make note of what you’ve eaten during the day, I feel like it’s been helping me keep track of the little things that tend to get overlooked when prioritising tasks over taking care of myself.

So far… so good, I’ve only been using this for about a week, but this planner has definitely helped me stay productive and it’s generally easy to use.

2. The Ultimate Week Plan

The Ultimate Week Plan is an A4 notepad with enough space to write down your main tasks and goals for the week. The layout is simple and clean, which is perfect as you can make it your own and use it as a basis for your personal goals, studying or tasks for work. I’ve been using this template to help map out my week and just stuck it on my fridge as a reminder, having the week plan separate from the planner has been easier than flipping back the pages to the beginning of the week.

Generally, I feel that the Getting Things Done Kit is quite practical for those of you ladies that are looking to improve on or maintain your productive streak, this is also useful for someone who maybe new to using planners as it’s a very simple layout meaning you can add what you want to it.

I hope you all enjoyed reading my post! Click here to check out the Getting Things Done Kit.

Lush Love Boat Bath Bomb Review

Lush Love Boat Bath Bomb Review

If you don’t already know, I decided to do a series on some of Lush’s Valentines bath bomb range, as requested by some of my lovely readers. So today, the second of my mini Lush Valentines Bath Bomb series will be on possibly the most fun and simultaneously stressful to capture – the Lush Love Boat Bath Bomb.

A little bit about Lush…

Lush are an all-round ethical cosmetics company that are committed to being cruelty-free, vegan and sustainable as possible. Their products are all handmade, smell amazing, and have a cool sticker at the bottom of their boxed products to tell you who and when the products were made. With over 100 stores across the U.K, Lush is easily one of the most prominent organic beauty brands.

Lush Love Boat Bath Bomb 🛥️

This exclusive Valentines bath bomb is made with a blend of organic sweet orange oil and Sicilian lemon oils to uplift, cleanse and refresh the body. And in keeping with the Valentines theme, it is also made with a balancing and restorative rose oil and it’s vegan! As you can see in the picture, the boat shaped bath bomb also has little heart shaped glitter at the bottom of the boat (which I thought was a very cute touch). I bought this bath bomb from the Oxford Street Lush store for £4.25 each.

Review

When I put this bath bomb in the tub, the bottom of it immediately started to fizz with the glitter and vibrant yellow and pink colours spreading out. At that point, I could mainly smell the zesty scent of the orange and lemon oils. As it was breaking down, the bath bomb let out these lovely frothy swirls of pink, purple and blue with little flecks of glitter, I wasn’t timing myself properly but it took around 8-10 minutes to completely fizz out.

Once I was in the bath tub, I could feel the blend of the different oils working into my skin, it was very gentle and all around refreshing which is a nice change from what I normally use. The water eventually turned into a dark pink colour and the heart shaped glitter sunk to the bottom of the tub so I didn’t get the chance to get a good picture of it, I think that I was in the tub for about 35-40 minutes.

This special Valentine Love Boat bath bomb is fun, fresh and colourful, I love the combination of the rose, orange and lemon oils but I will admit that I was a little disappointed that it didn’t float (lol). If you haven’t already tried out this bath bomb, then you definitely should get on board and try it out. 💖🛥️

Plum Goodness Green Tea Face Wash Review

Today, I thought it was about time that I shared the fourth post of my Plum Goodness review series, I had so much planned for the new year that I kind of forgot to share this post, I know that I’ve done few posts on this brand already but I needed to get through the series. This post is a review on the face scrub from the Plum Goodness Green Tea range.

About Plum Goodness…

The Green Tea Pore-Cleansing Face Wash

The Plum Goodness Green Tea Pore-Cleansing Face Wash is part of Plum Goodness’ Grape Seed & Sea Buckthorn collection. The face wash is made of 100% biodegradable, natural, skin-friendly cellulose beads, no plastic whatsoever, that gently buff away debris and dead cells. The face wash is also made of Glycolic acid that helps gently remove older, surface skin cells, which can otherwise cause dull complexion and clogged pores – and acne. It also contains green tea extracts, retaining the polyphenols (the real antioxidant stuff), which is safe and effective in keeping your skin clear.

On the Plum Goodness website, the face wash is recommended for those with normal and combination skin types, but is not recommended for people with very dry skin, acne-prone skin and for those with extremely sensitive skin. When applying the scrub, you simply need to wash your hands and splash some water on your face, take a small amount of the face wash and gently rub it over your faces in small circles – once your done with the scrub use water to remove the lather/foam and pat your skin dry.

The face wash is priced at Rs. 345.00 (Indian rupees) for 75ml, which is approximately £4.00 – please do bear in mind that the exchange rate can fluctuate, and the price could be a little higher for someone purchasing from outside of India but I was charged exactly £4.00 for the scrub.

Review

Initially, I used this face scrub straight after using the Green Tea Face Mask, so my skin was pretty clear to begin with, but it’s the perfect scrub to use if your skin is breaking out, the face wash was so gentle on my skin despite having (huge) spots.

This face wash was surprisingly mild, considering how strong green tea can be in beauty products and also taking into account my sensitive skin, it worked wonders for my skin. After washing my face, my skin was visibly clearer and firmer, the effects of the face wash lasted for most of the day which is a bonus for me. This is perfect for anyone who wants to help control break outs, acne-prone or mildly sensitive skin, although if you are unsure I would recommend you ask a specialist before using it. 👌🏽‍✨

If you are from India, then you can order directly from the Plum Goodness website. If you live outside of India, then you can order the products by emailing hello@plumgoodness.com

I hope you all enjoyed my Plum Goodness Green Tea Face Wash review. Don’t forget to comment, share and follow.

Lush Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb Review

Lush Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb Review

Last weekend, I asked you guys if I should do more bath bomb reviews on instagram and quite a few of you said that I should, so I decided to do a little series on some of the Lush Valentines bath bomb range. The first of my Lush Valentines Bath Bomb series will be on the Lush Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb.

Lush Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb 💕

For the Valentines collection, Lush have changed the Tisty Tosty bath bomb by adding a layer of pink to the bath bomb, before it was a powder white bath bomb with rose buds stuck on the front. The Tisty Tosty bath bomb has a blend of woody orris root powder and restorative rose absolute, it also has Sicilian lemon oil, geranium and jasmine too add to the aroma of the bath bomb, and of course the signature dusty pink rosebuds are still on it. I bought this bath bomb from the Oxford Street Lush store for £3.50 each.

Review

The bath bomb immediately started to fizz and break down, at first you could smell the soothing aroma of the rose and jasmine. It took around three to four minutes for it to fizz out completely, bear in mind that I kept moving it around and holding the bath bomb to take pictures for this post (lol). Once the bath bomb completely fizzed out, my bath tub turned into a pretty rose pink colour and the little rose buds were floating around in the tub.

As I got into the tub, the citrus smell became a little more prominent and the water had an almost musk-like smell,  the bath bomb in general was calming, and the blend of all the different scents were in no way overpowering – I must have spent at least 40 minutes in the tub. After getting out of my tub, I noticed that it was a little stained by the bath bomb, mainly where I had actually held the bath bomb in place to take pictures, but it washed off quickly so there’s nothing to worry about there.

The bath bomb did a great job at relaxing my whole body with the gentle and subtle smells; one thing I will say that I was a little disappointed by is that there didn’t seem to be as many oils compared to some of the other bath bombs that I’ve tried out from Lush, but the bath bomb did gradually soften my skin. Overall, I think that this Valentine edition of the Tisty Tosty bath bomb is lovely, I actually hope they keep it this way all year around as the the pink layer adds a little more something to it.

Time for a change

Hello everyone! ♥

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and although its Blue Monday, I hope you all are looking forward to this week.

Time for a change

Now that we’re almost half way through this month, I thought it was about time that I changed up the look of the blog. From the logo, the header to the design of the website – I’ve changed it all! As of now, I’ve just changed the look but I will be gradually making some more changes to my blog over time. The reason for the change was not really much to do with the new year, but rather it’s more to do with me recognising that my style of blogging has changed, I’ve come a long way since I began blogging and I feel that I’ve significantly improved my blog over time – it was definitely time for a change!

New Look

As I’ve mentioned before, the new look is more to do with me taking my blog into a new direction and upgrading everything about it. The new look of my blog is one of the main changes that I had worked on during the week and I would be so grateful if you all could give back any kind of feedback. I would really appreciate it of you could give me feedback on the look of the site and the logo and general aesthetic. To give feedback you can simply comment below, or if you have more to say and add then you can click here to contact me.

I hope you all like the new, upgraded version of my blog. Please bear in mind that it is a work in progress, and there are still minor things to tweak here and there, but I do hope that you guys like what I’ve got done so far. ☺
