Manifest Now - Idil Ahmed

Manifest Now Review

Hey everyone,

How has your first two weeks of 2019 been so far?

As this is my first post of the year, I wanted to it be useful for everyone that has set themselves some goals for the year and keep the momentum going if you feel like you could be slipping already.

Like most of you, I got fed up of reading the ‘New Year, New Me’ tweets and updates. The way that I look at it the New Year should be a time for you to reflect on how to improve on yourself with the way that you already are and be in harmony with yourself. (Instead of comparing yourself to someone else and wanting to be a whole new person.)

This review is on a book that I’ve wanted to share for such a long time, but honestly, it felt right sharing the review now as at the start of 2019.

Who is Idillionaire & Idil Ahmed?

Idillionaire is a Lifestyle brand and Consulting firm that infuses the essence and power of truth and positivity, to those who seek. Providing inner development and ‘spiritual intelligence’ for the mind-body and spirit. A Universal platform dedicated towards the healthy evolution of souls; supporting expansion, consciousness, creativity and growth in business, art, fashion and culture. Acting as an extension to both humans and industries; Idillionaire bonds corporations, brands and most importantly, people with a heightened state of purposeful, profitable flow.

I actually came across Idil Ahmed’s account @idillionaire quite a few years ago through her inspiring posts on social media and had followed her Twitter and Instagram ever since. (I would definitely recommend her accounts, if you haven’t already came across it).

Manifest Now

I bought the book in the summer and been reading it this whole time. It’s needless to say that when you keep going back to a book that you thoroughly enjoy it.

Overall, the book is grounded in spiritual, mental and physical growth. As a whole, it is an easy read, covering aspects of life that people typically want to improve on.

I  enjoyed the focus on spiritual energy that you put out, and being in harmony with yourself as opposed to being spiritual in a religious sense. Sometimes I’ve read books that occasionally mix the two meaning that you have to understand the religious context before reading the content. Thankfully here it’s pretty simple to follow through regardless of your personal beliefs, journey etc. It seems applicable to anyone that is willing to take the step forward to manifest and work towards their goals in life.

Personally, I felt that the last few chapters are the best. From the ‘Release It’ techniques to literally help you learn how to cope with situations that you struggle with or unlearn toxic behaviour patterns that are damaging for ourselves. To the ‘Think It’ techniques that help you stay focussed and the ‘Affirm It’ chapters with its empowering affirmations that ensure that we are not only aligning our thoughts and energy but also being kind to ourselves.

I’d love to know your thoughts on this book, if you’ve read it. And if you haven’t, it’ll be nice to know what you think about my Manifest Now review and whether you’d read it. I hope you love it as much as I do.

The problem with positivity

Happy Sunday everyone! ☺

I hope you all have had a wonderful week. In the past few months, I’ve seen a lot of bloggers I follow open up and discuss how they’re feeling which inspired this post. I’m sure many of you can relate to this post.

The problem with positivity

For a while, I’ve felt that the positivity I try to put out there on social media, this blog and generally in life was not balanced. Many of us post messages of positivity to motivate one another on social media but are not able to fully embrace it in reality. I for one have been guilty of this. But this issue with positivity, namely only putting out positive content, is equally as damaging as being completely negative. For me, an overload of positivity creates an imbalance resulting in not being able to fully cope and deal with the negativity in my life.

Neglecting the negativity made me become more sensitive to it and I found myself constantly living up to high standards. Which, frankly, can be exhausting at times.  Don’t get me wrong, I still believe that it’s extremely important to improve yourself and strive to be a better person, but it’s equally important to not be harsh on yourself.

How I’ve tried to overcome it

Part of becoming an adult is learning how to take what life throws at you and how to handle that with grace. Whether that be addressing problems with your personal life, work, education, relationships and so on. Addressing the negativity in my life and trying to tackle it has worked much better for me than merely consuming positive content. Deconstructing the underlying issues that I have from the way I handle situations, toxic people and so on has given me a newfound perspective on life. It’s given me the chance to grow. As I’ve gotten older, I find that balancing the positives and negatives in life, and paying equal attention to both has been best for growth. Examining my life more closely has made all the difference.

I would love to know what your thoughts are on this, and if any of you have felt this way.

I hope you enjoyed my post.  Don’t forget to comment, share and follow.

10 inspirational podcasts for women

Happy International Women’s Day to all my ladies out there ♥

I hope you all are having a fabulous day just being you and forever slaying. Last week, I wrote a post about my current favourite podcasts, and I got a great response. Since then, I have been binge-listening to some more podcasts that I wanted to share with you all. Side note – I think binge-listening is going to be the new binge-watching for me this year.

So for International Womens Day, I thought it would be great to share some more podcasts with you all specifically to keep all you ladies inspired, motivated and entertained. There’s a variety of podcasts here to inspire you in every way possible!

10 Inspirational podcasts for women

1 | She Means Business Podcast with Carrie Green – Carrie Greens’ podcast, based on her book of the same name, brings out your entrepreneurial side. This podcast features female guests that share their success stories and experiences with their ventures, providing further insight and advice to help you get going on whatever business you want. The episodes can be between 20 minutes – 50 minutes.

2 | The Receipts Podcast –  These London based ladies are hilarious, fun, and unapologetically honest (I love it!). From discussing everyday topics that all women can relate to and just having a good honest chat about current issues.  Their episodes are normally between 1 hour – 2 hours.

3 | SherniCast – (I’ve mentioned this in an earlier post.) SherniCast is a podcast run by Canadian based vlogger and actress Navpreet Banga. Navpreet’s podcasts focus on spirituality, mental wellbeing and motivation and she sometimes speaks in both English and Punjabi. Whenever she does post a new episode on her podcast, I always try to take the time out to listen because I find her talks on motivation to be so genuine and uplifting. Each episode can be between 8 minutes – 20 mintutes.

4 | 2 Dope Queens –  I’ve only recently discovered this podcast run by American based Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams. These two comedians and best friends discuss anything and everything from stories about sex, romance, race, hair journeys, living in New York, and so on. Their honesty is so refreshing, I’m sure you’ll love it too. The episodes can be anything between 10 minutes – 1 hour 20 minutes.

5 | Goal Digger – This podcast is run by Jenna Kutcher, a Wisconsin based photographer, podcaster, and educator with big dreams. Jenna’s podcast covers business, travel, personal lifestyle, from social media marketing strategies, to opening up about her fears, Jenna’s podcast is so refreshingly raw. Each episode can be between 8 minutes – 50 minutes

6 | Radio Cherry Bombe – This podcast is completely different compared to most that I know of; it features interviews of various women in the food industry, like food stylists, about their careers. What I find interesting is that the podcasts features women working behind the scenes of the food industry, that unfortunately don’t always get the credit that they deserve. The episodes are usually between 30 minutes – 1 hour.

7 | Girlboss Radio – Again I’ve also mentioned this in my current favourite list, but it’s worth mentioning here too since everything in this podcast is relevant for women. The Girlboss Radio, run by the Girlboss Sophia Amoruso, covers a wide range of topics that all women can relate to as well as topics that we could always learn more about; finance, wellbeing, beauty, work and so on. The episodes can be anything between 25 minutes – 1 hour.

8 | On Being with Krista Trippett – This is a philosophical podcast that I recently discovered run by Krista Tippett. Although this podcast is not exclusively a podcast for women, I still think that it’s important to get into the philosophical and introspective mood, learn about unique people with their own philosophy on different aspects of our life. Each episode runs for roughly 1 hour – 1 hour 30 minutes.

9 | Cha Da Cup with KayRay – Again, I have mentioned this in one of my other posts. KayRay is a Canadian based actress, model, vlogger that hosts her own show and podcast called Cha Da Cup with KayRay (Cup of Tea with KayRay). I’ve been following KayRay for a while now and I can’t get enough of her sassy interviews, she mainly covers topics on issues in South Asian cultures, interviews key figures of South Asian descent, but also keeps her podcasts and interviews very lighthearted. The interviews are normally between 40 minutes – 45 minutes.

10 | Fat Mascara – This one is for all of my makeup lovers out there, I actually discovered this the other day as I did a quick google search to see if there are any makeup podcasts and voilà. Beauty editors, Jess & Jenn share the industry’s latest news and their inside access along with candid stories of their beauty adventures, from celebrity interviews and freaky new facials to miracle products and epic beauty fails. Each week, they also get advice from their favorite people in the beauty business, including influencers, makeup artists, hair stylists, and more. The episodes can be anything between 30 minutes – 1 hour 30 minutes.

In case you still have yet to buy some flowers for Mother’s Day, I would recommend you buy some stunning bouquets from Floom, they offer same day delivery in London! ☺

My current favourite podcasts

Happy Tuesday everyone, how has your week been going so far? ☺

It’s been such a little while since I’ve done a post on things that inspire me. From time to time, I love listening to podcasts while working as I find that it really helps me stay motivated, inspires creativity and generally keeps me from procrastinating. There I some that I have been listening to for years and a few that I have been listening to in the past year or so. I hope you all enjoy this list of my current favourite podcasts.

My current favourite podcasts 📻 🎧

1 | Partially Examined Life – The Partially Examined Life is a U.S based podcast and blog  is run by Mark Linsenmayer, Seth Paskin, Wes Alwan and Dylan Casey. As a Philosophy student, I would listen to the Partially Examined Life podcast for inspiration on my work and generally for better insight into my course; even after graduating, I still listen to the thought provoking and witty podcasts. It’s a great podcast for those of you that have a keen interest in Philosophy, and are just generally curious to learn more without having to do all the reading.

2 | Cha Da Cup with KayRay –  KayRay is a Canadian based actress, model, vlogger that hosts her own show and podcast called Cha Da Cup with KayRay (Cup of Tea with KayRay). I’ve been following KayRay for a while now and I can’t get enough of her sassy interviews, she mainly covers topics on issues in South Asian cultures, interviews key figures of South Asian descent, but also keeps her podcasts and interviews very lighthearted.

3 | SherniCast – SherniCast is a podcast run by Canadian based vlogger and actress Navpreet Banga. Navpreet is more well known for her videos on fitness and comedy sketches on YouTube, but she occasionally posts episodes for her podcast, one thing that I love about her podcasts are that they focus on spirituality, mental wellbeing and motivation and she sometimes records episodes in both English and Punjabi. Whenever she does post a new episode on her podcast, I always try to take the time out to listen because I find her talks on motivation to be so genuine and heartfelt.

4 | Girlboss Radio – And of course, my ultimate favourite is the Girlboss Radio, run by the Girlboss Sophia Amoruso. This podcast, much like the newsletter, covers a wide range of topics that all women can relate to as well as topics that we could always learn more about; finance, wellbeing, beauty, work and so on. There are many different guests that are part of the podcasts and there is honestly so much to learn from them all.

New Year, Better Me

Hi everyone,

I hope you all are well! ☺

As my last post of the year, I thought it only makes sense to talk about this year and the new year.

New Year, Better Me  🎆✨

Every year my social media is full of people that either use the phrase ‘New Year, New Me’  or complain about the phrase. In all honesty, the phrase does bother me at times, one because we (obviously) remain the same person, it’s the feeling behind the phrase that bothers me the most. Though the phrase is meant to be positive, it seems to carry a heavy feeling with it, most of which seems like it’s full of self-loathing rather than wanting to improve – I’m not sure if I’m the only person that feels this way, you may disagree with me and that’s okay.

I think it’s about time that we show more love for ourselves and embrace who we are, any improvements that we’d like to make for ourselves should be practical and always make sure that self-love is at the centre of whatever we do in 2018.

Goodbye 2017 & Hello 2018.

On a personal level, 2017 has been full of lessons, and blessings and I cannot wait to grow and develop more as a person in 2018. This year Kind Culture hit new milestones, and I have many ideas that I am eager to share with you all in the next couple of months. 2017 has been a good year for the blog I’ve met so many fabulous fellow bloggers, collaborated with brands and companies,  I’m confident that 2018 will be another amazing year and that I’ll be able to take my blog to new heights. I hope you all have just as much success in whatever aspect you need to grow in – so here’s to a New Year and a better me! ☺

Happy New Years in advanced from me, I hope you all have a fun and safe time.

Lots of love from Sonam x

MYnd Map MY Journal Review

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.

Earlier this year I tested and promoted the Kickstarter campaign for the 21 day trial version of the MYnd Map My Journal. Over the past three months, I’ve been using the journal to help me achieve some of my goals and keep track of my ideas.

What about the journal…

MYnd Map MY Journal was founded by Rosemary. The journal encourages and inspires you to stay on track with your dreams, goals and commitments. Helping you practice different methods of mindfulness and productivity – in short takes the concept of connecting your goals to make it a reality.

Personally, I like that the journal includes techniques to improve productivity e.g. the 80/20 rule. There are also daily affirmations and positive psychology practices; giving the journal a holistic approach to planning.

Review

Initial thoughts

At first, I loved that everything was like a blank canvas for me to fill in, there was so much to do with this journal to make my own. Every week begins with an intentions table where you can fill in your small goals for the week from  ‘Body & Health’ to ‘Personal & Spiritual’. The whole journal is perforated so I was able to take rip off the page and pin it up on my desk as a reminder during the week. Towards the end of the week, I enjoyed taking time to write my reflections of the week, especially on how happy I was during the week activity. Filling out the journal has also given me the chance to spend more time introspecting, even if it’s for 5 minutes. It’s definitely very therapeutic for me.

After one month… (October)

My productivity had significantly improved. Writing down and physically making note of everything allowed me to remember what I needed to get done. In this past month, I have managed to achieve my goals that I had set for my blog, making a note of what I did on a daily basis also improved the way I went about setting targets for the week. I have thoroughly enjoyed colouring in, it’s given me the chance to just sit down and spend time being in the moment. I also felt that way when I was filling out the daily journal pages.

After two months… (November)

November has been quite productive for me. I achieved my blog and spiritual goals. I particularly enjoyed the quotes that were on the daily pages for this week, now that I have gotten used to using the journal I feel like I’m able to concentrate on following my goals.  The visual tools are brilliant for the days that I didn’t feel like writing much.

The last month  (December)

Coming towards the end of the journal now and the festive season, I decided to focus more on my spiritual growth. Although I haven’t had much time for my blog this month, I felt that I still had quite a few good ideas that I noted down while I was ill. The end of the week recaps were a great way to help me realise what my next steps needed to be, what I should take away from the week and celebrate.

Overall, I feel that this has certainly made a difference to my motivation. This journal is definitely helping me end the year on a positive note and starting the new year full of motivation.

MYnd Map MY Journal

MYnd Map MY Journal

Happy Sunday everyone! ♥

I hope you all had an amazing week.

A little about MYnd Map

Today I’m so excited to share an exclusive look into a new type of journal, called MYnd Map MY Journal; which encourages and inspires you to stay on track with your dreams, goals, commitments whilst helping you practice different methods of mindfulness and productivity – in short takes the concept of connecting your goals and health with yourself and helps you make it a reality.

Our daily lifestyle consists of doing countless tasks in a short amount of time and it’s easy to become sidetracked and lose focus when, like most people, you have more to do than you can manage. One thing that I personally like about the journal is that there are different techniques that are there to help improve your productivity e.g. the 80/20 rule. There are also daily affirmations and positive psychology practices, giving the journal a hollistic approach to the way that you manage everything.

The Journal

The MYnd MAp MY journal has images that you can colour in to help you visualise whatever you hope to achieve, and to relax. There is space to write or draw what you want to achieve in the calender areas, you can make note of what goals you want to achieve in different aspects of your life whether that be ‘Body & Health’, ‘Family & Relationships’ etc. The pages are also perforated, which is great if you want to create a visual board or take it on the go with you.

The journal is packed with all the things you need to help you achieve your individual goals, whether that be personal, career-related, or in your education. The journal will be officially launching on the 5th April on Kickstarter, to stay updated follow @MYndMap online on Twitter and Instagram! ☺

#EOYR2016

Happy Sunday to you all! 🙂

I hope you’ve all had a great weekend and enjoyed all the crazy sales.

Today my source of inspiration comes from one of my friends, who has created a social media campaign to pause, reflect and celebrate our achievements of this year. The motto for the campaign is “Hold the New Year Resolutions, Have an End of Year Reflection!”

To share the positivity, you can post a tweet on something that you have achieved, are proud of, have accomplished or learnt in 2016, using the hashtags #EOYR2016 (End of Year Reflection 2016) or #2016Accomplishment on Twitter or Instagram. Just so you know, the first hashtag is the most important, so please try to use this even if you can’t use the other!

I’ll be adding mine on my Instagram account and a link to the post on Twitter, I would love to see what you all have to say, so please do take part share and spread the word! ☺♥

Comfort Zone

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” – Neale D. Walsch

Hi guys!

Happy Sunday to you all! I hope you all have had a great weekend.

Going through difficulties is a necessary part of our existence, but how we go about facing and overcoming our adversaries ultimately adds meaning to our lives. ( I am pretty sure that I have just subconsciously paraphrased philosophers, monks or some unknown genius from Pinterest). Speaking of Pinterest, this week I was searching Pinterest for inspirational quotes, as you do, and I came across this quote by Neale Walsch and it honestly inspired me to just focus on doing what needs to be done (revision, work and this post haha) instead of worrying about how much I need to do get done.

I am not sure exactly what everyone else is currently dealing with in their lives, but I am a firm believer in the idea that we are meant to go through difficulties in life and that it is during this time in our life that we are forced to get out of our comfort zone and grow. Being able to grow and develop in every way possible always seems to be something that we all want to achieve but few people actually accept that we need to make changes to our own lifestyles and choices to be allow the changes we want to take place. Sometimes we are stuck in a cycle of being complacent about where we are at this point in our life to the point that it becomes a comfort zone for us, but clearly this will never get us anywhere.

The life that we truly want to have will only ever start once we move out of our comfort zone and work towards overcoming our problems, which naturally will require time and effort. Investment in our selves is the only way that you can get to where you want and start living life, which does not necessarily involve financial investment might I add, it merely involves spending time evaluating your life looking at where you are and where you want to be. We can not control the problems that life throws our way, but we are in control of how we choose to deal them.
